Our Story
North Spring United Methodist Church came into existence in 1993 due to the vision of a few individuals. The district conference generously donated 18 acres of land to this new church along the north frontage road of I-70 in Blue Springs. Glenn Wood was appointed pastorship of the new church and Lee Edwards was assigned as the associate pastor and director of music. Along with a few seed families from First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, a calling campaign was conducted that brought in the rest of the charter members of the church. The first service was held at 708 RD Mize Rd in the upper room facility on October 24, 1993.
On November 12, 1995 the church moved into the storefront location at 1006 W Main St in downtown Blue Springs. There the church remained for the next 5 years. The church was rapidly outgrowing the storefront location. The space was small but the dreams were big.
The building campaign for the new building began on February 3, 1998. The arduous task of deciding and planning every detail began, along with lots of prayer. On June 13, 1999 we had a groundbreaking service on the new land. It was cold and rainy that day but that did not dampen the spirits of the attendees. It was complete with music and praying under the tent. As the building proceeded, the congregation wrote prayers and scripture verses on the rafters and beams prior to sheet-rocking the building. Then, on July 9, 2000 North Spring held their first service in the new building, with a full conga line celebration. The building was officially consecrated on October 8, 2000.
North Spring has continued to grow spiritually over the years through many Bible studies and prayer meetings. Many new families came and became part of the North Spring family. Relationships were formed and grew into family bonds. New traditions were established and new ministries were born. The church is continually evolving and expanding as it continues to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
