The Paradoxical Commandments - By Kent M Keith
People are often unreasonable,
illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind,
people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful,
you will win some false friends and true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank,
people may cheat you;
Be honest anyway.
What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis,
it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway
The Fruit of Prayer - By Mother Teresa
The fruit of silence is prayer
the fruit of prayer is faith
the fruit of faith is love
the fruit of love is service
the fruit of service is peace.
Love to pray - By Mother Teresa
Feel often during the day the need for prayer and pray.
Prayer opens the heart, till it is capable of containing God himself.
Ask and seek and your heart will be big enough to receive Him
and keep Him as Your Own.
If We Pray - By Mother Teresa
If we pray, we will believe;
If we believe, we will love
If we love, we will serve.
Footprints in the Sand – Mary Stevenson
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”
The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
Infinite Grace - Raymond Foster
The infinite grace that adorned the cross,
Resembled infamy and shame!
Flanked on either side by a criminal,
The Master died in His Father’s name!
As His own life painfully ebbed,
He heard a penitent thief to say,
Remember me when You enter Your kingdom,
A thief was pardoned and sanctified that day!
By the gentle voice of the Prince of Peace,
Whose kingdom is not of this world,
The cruel power of pagan Rome,
Could not His final victory imperil!
In only a few more days He would ascend,
To the Father Who sent Him to earth,
By the loving care of the maiden, Mary,
Who delivered the Son by Immaculate Birth!
Though He walked the earth as mortal man,
He was in fact quite divine!
His many acts of mercy and healing,
His holy mission quite clearly defined!
Ere He left to rejoin His Father on high,
He told the eleven to love one another,
That’s the sign whereby the world may know,
Disciples trusted the Son, the Father and no other!
He bade the disciples tarry at Jerusalem,
Until the Holy Spirit arrived,
It came with both power and glory,
And caused them all to prophesy!
Finally He said as I was sent,
So in truth do I send you,
To make disciples throughout all nations,
This church with mission do I endue!
Those who believe and labor ceaselessly,
To build a world-wide, vibrant church,
Will be rewarded by life eternal,
When the Savior returns to earth!
I Have a Dream for the Kirzhach Kids – Sherree Gorman
I have a dream that one day these children will rise up and live out the true meaning of the verse: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
I have a dream that one day these children will know the full measure of God’s love for them.
I have a dream that one day these children will not feel isolated and alone but will experience the joy of friendship and family that comes from God, their father, and from their brothers and sisters in Christ.
I have a dream today!
I have a dream that one day these children will be transformed from living a life full of hurt to a life liberated by grace.
I have a dream that one day these children will experience the freedom from striving for perfection that can never be achieved to walking in God’s plan of grace.
I have a dream that one day these children will not let the fear of the future hold them but will move forward with God’s breath of love.
I have a dream today!
I have a dream that one day these children will not be filled with despair but will be overflowing with hope, as precious children of God.
I have a dream that one day these children will escape the bonds of worrying what others think about them to flourishing in the joy of being who God made them to be.
I have a dream that one day these children will find their wings and will soar to heights not limited by the imagination.
I have a dream today!
And God is in the business of fulfilling dreams.
Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends. And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the Christian dream. It is the dream of Jesus for all of us. It is from him who gives us the gift of faith and hope and love, but most of all, love.
Open The Door – Raymond Foster
Quite near is an angel you cannot see,
Should he happen to knock on your door,
Be sure to invite him in for a spell,
He’s actually knocked a few times before.
Just then you didn’t hear the knock,
But now that he’s inside,
You can catch up on giving thanks,
Let him know you are filled with pride!
That the Creator of life directed him,
To stop and pay you a call,
Perhaps his pleasant demeanor,
Will your reluctant soul enthrall!
Renounce the wiles of the world,
And give the Savior full control,
Newness of life will bless you,
You’ll ne’er give the new for the old!
The old promised only disappointment,
The new looks upward with faith,
The Savior is your daily companion,
You begin to know the meaning of grace!
Grace purchased at an awesome price,
Atop Golgotha’s gruesome hill,
The picture duly dulls our senses,
But God’s purpose it fulfills!
How dearly did the Father love us!
He gave the grandest thing He owned!
The life of His only Son!
That believers may have a home!
With reverence we thank both Father and Son,
For both their vision and the gift,
Of a home that endures forever!
And even now our spirit lifts!
To those shores of sweet deliverance,
Where eternal rapture dwells,
With the souls of departed loved ones!
Such joy no mortal tongue can tell!
